I Wanted to Tell You...

(A Friendship in Pictures)

August 13, 2014

by Rachel Ford

Leaf: My Indian friend once taught me how to make a green banana curry. In Asia unripe mangoes, bananas and guavas can all be considered 'ready to eat', which I like in general, but used to find frustrating when I had a garden in India and I never ate a ripe fruit from it.  (Luang Nam Tha, Laos)

Rae: That's my beautiful sister in the red top and black pants. She's taking a salsa class in the park at the harbour, which I find terrifying. I went along one day but I only danced with Kenya. Becca is so brave. (Kelowna, Canada)

Leaf: I think that this woman looks so elegant and graceful. I met her at the market. (Muang Sing, Laos)

Rae: We're eating so much fresh corn! I used to live in the corn capital of B.C. (my province), a fact that I'm very proud of. Our corn tastes like sun and sweetness. (Kelowna, Canada)

Leaf: I love it when there are edible flowers in the menu. Basically, I love anything to do with flowers…even eating them. (Muang Sing, Laos)

Rae: My kids and other kids on the head of a waterplay-statue of the Ogopogo. The Ogopogo is a monster who reportedly lives in Lake Okanagan, she's a little like the Lochness Monster, but the Canadian version. (Kelowna, Canada)
