I Wanted to Tell You...

(A Friendship in Pictures)

November 12, 2014

by Rachel Ford

Leaf: This is the main street of a town at the top of the Blue Mountains, I am living at the bottom of the mountains. (Katoomba, Australia)

Rae: "May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm on your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields,
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand." I pray this gaelic blessing for you my friend. (Pai, Thailand)

Leaf: Sydney is so multicultural…which I love. We were sitting here, eating Lebanese food while this man from China came along on his bike and sold us tomatoes and eggplants. I felt a moment of being 'at home'. (Granville, Australia)

Rae: Now that I'm running in the early mornings, I'm out and about at the right time to see the monks giving blessings and receiving alms. (Pai, Thailand)

Leaf: I love to happen upon a makeshift hairdressing salon! This  sign advertised for one is outdoors at a local market. (Marrickville, Australia)

Rae: We went for a last afternoon swim with Chris and Donia, (I didn't get a pic of them, boo) and the light was so peaceful and sweet as we spent some good time together before sending them off to the next part of their journey. (Pai, Thailand)

Leaf: Everywhere I look there are blessings…the Australian bush, a small veggie garden, the sweetest man on earth and a miracle baby. (Yarramundi, Australia)

Rae: Last night we watched the Loy Krathong parade. Isaac was very excited about the big floats, and kept yelling out, "Wow! Pretty! Flowers!" (Pai, Thailand)

Leaf: There are fresh eggs to find every day, if they are still warm Taran keeps them in his pocket for a while, he says that it would feel wrong to put them in the fridge straight away. (Yarramundi, Australia)

Rae: This lady is making Kratong, tiny floating boats, for Loy Kratong here in Thailand. You know I love that they're made out of banana leaves, and that many people seem to know how to make them. Maybe we can get a lesson one day? (Pai, Thailand)
