I Wanted to Tell You...

(A Friendship in Pictures)

June 11, 2014

by Rachel Ford

Leaf: Today I joined my hubby on his last visit to the District Jail to visit some foreigners who are stuck there. In Australia we get stamped for music festivals but here it's to enter the jail! We brought mangoes and snacks and books as gifts. It was sweet to see what Brendan has been up to in these last years. I just adore him! (Varanasi, India)

Rae: I look forward to having not-so-lonely lonely salad with you, especially at this sweet spot I found. (For everyone else-- we call Som Tum lonely salad because of all the garlic.) (Pai, Thailand)

Leaf: We met Baba Ji (who we've known for the past 7.5 years) and his pet monkey on the road while we were out today and so we stopped for a chat. The fattest monkey in the whole of Hindustan I think. (Varanasi, India)

Rae: "Artists are people who have learned to live with doubt and do the work anyway." Julia Cameron, The Artist's Way. (Pai, Thailand)

Leaf: My friend Josh and his gorgeous little daughter planted these sunflowers before they left Varanasi. I miss gardening with Josh. (Varanasi, India)

Rae: During the last few days I've had the privilege of visiting a new mom and dad and this beautiful baby. The baby's mother is French and father is Persian/German. There are already five languages in this baby's everyday life! (Pai, Thailand)
