I Wanted to Tell You...

(A Friendship in Pictures)

July 30, 2014

by Rachel Ford

Leaf: My new friend (from Bangkok who works as the manager of KFC) was trying to convince me to buy food from this lady as well as giving me a warm welcome to Thailand. I love making new friends in the market! (Chiang Mai, Thailand)

Rae: Where I come from, the forests look like this, and I have always been in love with them. (Vancouver, Canada)

Leaf: Some real Thai colours. Who ever thought that cross-stitch could be so funky? (Chaing Mai, Thailand)

Rae: A Zamboni on the ice rink is such an image of the gym classes of my childhood. On our first night here we went to my brother's last hockey game of the season and I was taken way, way back. (Vancouver, Canada)

Leaf: Your world-travelling-musician-husband brought me Jarlsberg cheese from Sweden! This was a great way to start the day today…spiritual food and amazing cheese.  (Pai, Thailand)

Rae: It was around 8:00 in the evening and the sun was still high in the sky. My sister-in-law and I sat and talked while the kids played. Summer in Canada! (Vancouver, Canada)

Leaf: I met 'Ninja' the baby monkey today. Sadly his mum died. His new human adoptive mama is exhausted looking after him. My friend in Varanasi once cared for a baby monkey for a few months and truly she was ten times more tired than any mother of a human newborn I have ever met. A labour of love for sure…but oh the cuteness!  (Pai, Thailand)

Rae: We were greeted by jellyfish in the Vancouver airport. Just walking into the airport was heaven. Oh, I love being back in Canada! (Vancouver, Canada)

Leaf: What is there not to love about this moment on the street today? Thai hippy boys, a guitar and a Dalmatian. (Pai, Thailand)

Rae: And suddenly we are in Korea. Well, in the airport, which has cool parades of people wearing traditional Korean garments, re-enacting a royal walk. I love it!  (Incheon, Korea)

Leaf: Men sitting around enjoying being with babies is such a beautiful thing to see. (Chiang Mai, Thailand)

Rae: Miriam and I went for a farewell breakfast this morning. We had amazing coffee and food in a beautiful place and we got to chat to our hearts content. (Until I had to rush back to the house to continue packing.) I'm so privileged to spend parts of my life with this woman. (Pai, Thailand)

Rae: This is Wookie's family while we are away. She is a very lucky dog. (But I am still sad to leave her.) (Pai, Thailand)
